This Privacy Policy explains how FOLLO collects, uses, stores, shares and protects information when you use the FOLLO online social media community and related services. It also explains the choices available to you. This policy should be read together with the FOLLO Terms of Use.
1. Information you provide
Depending on the features you use, FOLLO may collect information you provide directly, including:
- your private recovery email address;
- your confirmation that you are 18 years of age or older;
- a public handle or display name if you choose one;
- profile information, biography, photos, cover images and other profile fields;
- posts, comments, messages, uploads, reactions, group activity and other content you choose to create or share;
- support requests, reports, appeals, feedback and communications with FOLLO; and
- information received from a sign-in provider, such as Google, when you choose a social-login option, subject to that provider’s permissions and policies.
2. FOLLO ID, account identifiers and recovery information
FOLLO generates a permanent account identifier known as your FOLLO ID. Your FOLLO ID is used to identify your account internally and may be displayed in parts of the Services when you do not use a public handle. FOLLO may also associate account identifiers or service addresses derived from your FOLLO ID with your account.
Your recovery email is intended for account support, security and recovery. It is kept separate from your public profile and is not intended to be shown publicly by FOLLO. Do not publish your recovery email if you wish to keep it private.
3. Information collected when you use FOLLO
Like most online services, FOLLO may automatically receive technical and activity information, including IP address, browser and device information, operating system, timestamps, pages or features used, referring URLs, login activity, security events, cookies, session identifiers, crash or diagnostic information and similar server-log data.
We may collect information about how you interact with FOLLO, such as accounts or content you view, follow, message or interact with, where necessary to operate social features, maintain security, prevent abuse and improve the Services.
4. How we use information
FOLLO may use information to:
- create, authenticate, secure and recover accounts;
- provide profiles, social pages, community functions, messaging-related features and other Services you request;
- display your chosen public identity while preserving your permanent FOLLO ID;
- provide support and respond to account-recovery requests;
- detect, investigate, prevent and respond to spam, fraud, harassment, threats, violence, exploitation, security incidents and other violations;
- maintain, troubleshoot, analyze and improve the Services;
- communicate important service, safety, security or policy information;
- enforce the Terms of Use and protect FOLLO, our users and the public; and
- comply with legal obligations and valid legal requests.
5. Public information and information you share
Your public handle, public profile information, public posts, comments and other content that you intentionally make public can be viewed by others and may be copied, reshared or indexed outside FOLLO. Information you send directly to another user is shared with that recipient. Use care when deciding what to post or send.
6. When information may be shared
FOLLO may share information in the following circumstances:
- At your direction or with your consent: when you choose to share content or connect a third-party service.
- Service providers: with hosting, infrastructure, security, communications, analytics or support providers that process information for FOLLO under appropriate restrictions.
- Safety and enforcement: when reasonably necessary to investigate or address abuse, fraud, threats, violence, security incidents or violations of the Terms of Use.
- Legal reasons: when required or permitted by applicable law, court order, legal process or enforceable governmental request, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety or property.
- Business changes: if FOLLO is involved in a merger, financing, restructuring, acquisition, sale of assets or similar transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal requirements.
FOLLO does not make your private recovery email public as part of your profile. If our business practices materially change, this Privacy Policy will be updated before the new practice applies as required by law.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
FOLLO may use cookies, local storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, protect accounts, prevent abuse, understand service performance and support essential site functions. Browser controls may allow you to block or delete cookies, but some FOLLO features may not function properly without essential cookies.
8. Security
FOLLO uses administrative, technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure. No online system can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for using a strong password, keeping account credentials confidential and promptly reporting suspected unauthorized access.
9. Retention
We keep information for different periods depending on what it is and why it is needed. Account information may be retained while your account is active. Security, abuse-prevention, fraud, legal, backup and audit records may be retained longer where reasonably necessary. Deleted information may remain for a limited period in backups or where retention is required or permitted by law.
10. Your choices and requests
Depending on the feature and applicable law, you may be able to review or update profile information, change or remove your public handle, change account settings, delete content, request account closure, or ask questions about the personal information associated with your account. Identity verification may be required before FOLLO processes certain privacy or recovery requests.
11. Age
FOLLO is intended for adults age 18 and older. Registration requires users to confirm that they are at least 18. If FOLLO learns that an account was created in violation of the age requirement, the account may be restricted, suspended or terminated and associated information may be handled as required by applicable law.
12. International processing
FOLLO and its service providers may process or store information in more than one country. When information is processed outside your jurisdiction, different data-protection laws may apply. FOLLO will use reasonable safeguards required by applicable law for such processing.
13. Abuse reports and privacy violations
FOLLO may review information relevant to a report of harassment, threats, violence, fraud, privacy invasion or other misuse. Misusing another person’s personal information, doxxing, stalking, non-consensual disclosure or other serious privacy violations may result in content removal, account restrictions, suspension or permanent termination under the Terms of Use.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our Services, technology, legal obligations or data practices change. Material changes may be announced through FOLLO or another reasonable method. The “Last updated” date above identifies the current version.
15. Contact
Privacy, account-recovery and data-related questions may be directed through FOLLO’s support channels. Until dedicated privacy contact information is published, please use the contact information made available on the FOLLO website.
